Haystack 1 of 3

I left Haystack School of Crafts on Friday and have been catching my breath and decompressing for a few days at my Aunt and Uncle’s house near by. It was pink when I got here.

I did my laundry.

The roses are still blooming on the back porch.

From the 2nd floor deck

The boat house.

I like the pink in the window.

Looking out while sitting on the wharf.

Looking down from the wharf.

When I was at Haystack I went to my bed each night at some point. Late. And all the other time I was in the studio or at the dining hall and twice I went to the library to check my email which took For Ev Errrr on account of the place being so remote.

Here’s what I saw a lot of in between the studio and dining hall and cabin:

The architecture is quiet with shingle siding.

Lots of decking everywhere.

I’m going to show you what I made in a few posts.

Haystack is a kind of fir tree heaven. There was sunny and moon and blue water and stars and sea air mixed with roses. The meal food was so so but the deserts were great and they left them out on the table at night for late snacks which I ate.

First we made paper.

Then we did some writing.

And after that we made books.

And there was a whole lot of all those things happening at the same time and in between.

Besides making a little notebook once, I never made books before. I was inspired by Elsa Mora. She and Mother Nature are excellent ones too look at if you need help with a new medium.

The Topic of: Owl Says by Susan Wells

I used an owl pellet.

The last page is the colophon.

The end.

I made the paper and the fabric comes from home and a quilt that my Aunt gave me. I’ll post more soon.
