is worth celebrating. That’s why Jolene has been up late at night making garlands.
Actually that’s not true. She’s making garlands for Christmas! The folks in the village have gathered ’round.
I wrapped some presents this morning. And listened to the boys choirs sing on the radio.
Then I went to Dual Supply to see about getting another present. Buzz showed up with the fanciest deer skull + antlers I ain’t never seen. He found it in the creek last night and went back this morning to get it.
That’d be 32 points.
Oh! That reminds me. I’m so excited!! It’s time for some sewing. I don’t have a mountain to do it on but I can sit in my chair and have a good time.
Turns out, since we’re celebrating the end of a cycle, I thought it’d be a good time to bring in Raven.
This one is a print on paper from a copper plate engraving I made about a million years ago. I love to engrave. Feels good to peel away tweensy curls of copper. With sharp, pointy tools. One line. At a time. Tim brought the stitched fabric back from India a few years before that. The flowery bit comes from the old timey quilt that my Aunt Susan turned into a skirt in the 70′s and that I have been carefully dismembering.
And since we are saying good bye to a 26,000 years cycle and we get to continue to reconnect with Mama, I’m starting by greeting our friend Raven.
Iridescent Blackness
I can feel you behind me.
Creating your wings
as if
they were mine
and
bringing the rains
when it’s dry
and bringing the dry
when there’s too much wet.
Something tells me Magic Bird
I’m going to be asking
a lot of you
in the days ahead.
But!
Mwaha!
I think you like the challenge
Soaring
in tumultuous wind.
With your
feathers curling
upright and wide.
Tim heard you on the mountain too.
Thanks for coming.
You can say hello to Raven too. Even if you don’t have them near. They are like smoke signals. Present everywhere. They can help you in a healing circle.
Oh! speaking of circles… Spaghetti squash is round and these glasses have round rims!! Must be the time of year for fancy beverages that = dinner.
